It was announced in September of last year that Hamasaki Ayumi would be releasing something on the 8th of every month until April 8th, 2013, the date of her debut, in celebration of her 15th anniversary. Following two mini-albums and a classical remix album, she will be releasing her 14th original studio album LOVE again today! In addition to new album tracks the release will also feature songs from her two mini-albums LOVE and again as well as the only new tune from her summer compilation album A SUMMER BEST.
This is the first time Hamasaki Ayumi has released an album containing no single tracks. LOVE again is available in four different varieties. This includes a Playbutton format that can only be bought online or as concert goods. Limited editions of the CD+Blu-ray and CD+DVD come with an original Ayupan and photobook. All retail versions of the album include a linked serial number only accessible for those who buy all five releases of her 15th anniversary campaign.
The covers are so serene and calming to look at. After all these years I’m still mesmerized by how beautiful and stunning Ayu is. She looks like a goddess here @_@. After learning about the contents of this album I was pretty elated. Unless you’re a diehard fan of Ayu (which I use to be) or want a bunch of remix tracks, owning the mini-albums is redundant now. The same can be said about the summer compilation album…the only thing that makes it worthwhile to buy is the one new song. For someone that owns all the other material on the release a $40 dollar price tag is not justified.
To make a long story short LOVE again is everything I’m looking for!!! I’ll most likely grab the Blu-ray for the sheer video quality. The naming for the album is pretty clever and unoriginal at the same time. It just combines the title of her two mini-albums together XD. I like this concept of linking the three releases together though. LOVE again is a culmination of her two two mini-albums, and they are all part of the same release campaign.
I really look forward to hearing some of the new tracks, especially untitled for her… story 2. Five years ago she released untitled ~for her~ on GUILTY, and all Ayu fans know how sentimental that song is about her decreased friend. Perhaps “story 2” will shed more light on what happened to this friend and the relationship they shared. I’ve already heard some of the mini-album tracks and know they’re good, so this album overall should be excellent!
