B’z American tour and more

According to Tokyograph and other sources, B’z recently announced a mini tour of the U.S. to commence in July. I got so super excited reading the headline until I saw that it’s basically confined to California. The venues will be at The Fillmore in San Francisco on July 22nd, and the Club Nokia Theater in Los Angeles on July 24th. Before these two dates, they will also play a show in Vancouver on the 20th.

I’m a little disappointed they won’t be coming to New York. It doesn’t surprise me at all why the venues are confined to California though. It seems like Japanese music has a lot more popularity in Cali. There is a good amount of Japanese living there, and many Japanese musicians own property or reside there as well.

For B’z, it will be their third time coming to the states for a show. Back in 2002 and 2003 they also played in Vancouver and venues in California, including The Fillmore and House of Blues. I remember when GLAY came to the U.S. in 2008 and 2009 for similar mini tours, they also played at The Fillmore and House of Blues on both occasions. Though it was related to Anime Expo 2010, AKB48 held their live in the Nokia Theater as well. It seems like a lot of great Japanese groups have come and gone through these venues.

This small series of concerts will be a prelude to the massive B’z tour set to commence in Japan near the end of September. That means their new album will be coming out in the weeks or months preceding the start of the tour, so we can definitely expect it by August or September =). The venues will be a mix of all types, becoming progressively bigger in the amount of people they can accommodate…halls, followed by arenas, and then massive domes! Their dome portion of the tour will start in December when they will be visiting 4 of the 6 major domes including Fukuoka, Nagoya, Osaka, and the hallowed Tokyo Dome. Here is the full list of their tour dates and venues. I really wish I could go to see them in Tokyo Dome =(. The shows they played there during last year’s tour were epic.

On top of all this great news, I also found some high res covers of their recent and upcoming single:

"Sayonara Kizu Darake no Hibi yo".

"Dont Wanna Lie".

“Don’t Wanna Lie” cover looks sexy! I can’t wait to see what this year’s B’z tour will bring.
